KAMPALA — A 16-year-old student and young media entrepreneur, Martin Luther Nyanzi, has formally petitioned the Parliament of Uganda seeking legislation that would allow the government to provide financial support to community-based organisations (CBOs) and local non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Nyanzi, a student at Kisozi High School in Buddo, believes grassroots organisations play a vital role in delivering services that complement government programmes, particularly in areas such as education, healthcare, youth empowerment and community development. Health Worker Arrested in Jinja Over Alleged Abduction and Assault of 5‑Year‑Old Jinja — Police in Jinja City have arrested a clinical officer , aged 40, stationed at Mpumudde Health Centre IV , on suspicion of defiling a five‑year‑old girl in the Northern Division of Jinja . The arrest followed a distress call from neighbors who heard unusual sounds coming from the suspect’s residence within the health facility.   Authorities say the incident took place on October 16 in the afternoon.
